R v Ian Tomlinson

The trial of PC Simon Harwood began on Monday, 18 June 2012 at Southwark Crown Court. Mr Harwood is charged with manslaughter following the death of Ian Tomlinson, a newspaper vendor, at the G20 protests in London in April 2009.

At the inquest into Mr Tomlinson’s death in 2011, a jury returned a verdict of unlawful killing, leading the Crown Prosecution Service to bring charges against PC Harwood.
