Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year
Congratulations to Tuckers latest two representatives in the pantheon of Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year nominees and winners.
Zareena Mustafa has been shortlisted for the Public Law award this year. The nomination was based on her continuing work, predominately fighting for prisoners rights, particularly those based on the right to observe their religious freedoms whilst in the prison estate. Zareena will find out whether she has won this award at this year’s virtual LALY ceremony on 7 July 2020.
Richard Atkinson, on the other hand, will not need to wait to find out as to whether he is a winner. The LAPG today announced four special awards including one for Richard, specifically relating to his work in securing a nationwide protocol for lawyers attending clients at the police station.
Practice Director Adam Makepeace said “We are delighted with both Zareena’s nomination and Richard’s award. It has honestly been hard to keep track of everything that is really important during the last 3 months of fire fighting during the Covid 19 crisis. This is a welcome and timely reminder of the need to take stock, now and then, to reflect on the really great work that continues to be done by members of the Tuckers community – both client facing and for the benefit of the criminal defence sector as a whole – and Richard and Zareena are tremendous ambassadors for what we stand for as individuals and collectively.
